Workawayers, thanks / Díky, přátelé z Workaway

Thanks to everyone I got to know through Workaway.
All of them helped me tremendously, both by doing some stuff - sometimes even without visible results of their effort, especially at the beginning - and by discussing my vision with me.

The more I think about it the more I think the main purpose of my efforts should be the communication. Communication in general, between people, that - although speaking same language - still sometimes misunderstand each other, but also in some specific cases like
  • between foreigners, where the misunderstandings stem from the level of language one is trying to learn.
  • between kids and adults, where the source of misunderstanding is adults forgetting they've been through the same stages as the kids once
  • between "normal" people and those with some disabilities (even sign language differ in different languages)
  • ...
shortly, as a saying goes "full doesn't believe to the hungry one", discussion is needed to avoid misunderstandings and keep reasonable level of trust.

In the end the excerpt from Large pre-scene from the play Ballad of rugs, authors Jiří Voskovec + Jan Werich:
"The world was far larger than it is today, now is smaller.
... not that it would collide ... the communications ... aeroplanes ...
Back when the king sent a messenger to the other king to tell him he was an ox - well, it took ages. But today you have it e ... e ... e ... e ... e ... well they know it before they say it."
... just imagine, the play was written in the pre-internet era

Ale dneska to máte e ... e ... e ... e ... e ... no to ví dřív než to řeknou."

Time to move on / Čas se posunout

It's time to move on ...

Je čas se posunout ...

What from / where to?
... well in the life, as every year we turn a year older and can reflect on what the past year brought (and took). Usually we do it towards the end of the year, but why stick to the old rules?

Od čeho / kam?
... inu, v životě, protože každý rok jsme o rok starší a můžeme zauvažovat o tom, co uplynulý rok přinesl (a odnesl).

For me the year was the prove, that whatever happens to me "it's my life, it's now or never, I ain't gonna live forever, I just want to live while I'm alive" (Bon Jovi - It's my life).

Pro mě byl tento rok důkazem, že ať se mi stane cokoli, „je to můj život, je to teď nebo nikdy, nebudu žít navždy, jen chci žít, dokud jsem naživu“  (Bon Jovi - It's my life).

So let's go, forward to the future.

Pojďme tedy do budoucnosti.

Clima - do we need the kids to tell us the Earth in in danger? / Klima - potřebujeme, aby nám stav Země připomínaly děti?

Another post on global warming, the theme that should be on the top of the news everywhere for decades. But we - the inhabitants of the Earth - are in denial, live in a part of the world, where changes are not visible or do not understand (never mind we don't know the language or the science behind).

When I was Greta's age I didn't know any English. I've lived behind the Iron Curtain and although I didn't believe local Czech newspaper (there were several of them, all reporting the same crap about bad imperialists and good communists) I didn't have a chance to "check it up". We needed to ask for foreign exchange promise and even when we got it, it was so ridiculously low, we needed to save money by staying with friends, hitchhike, sometimes working for food and lodging. Activities, the average parent was afraid of. Flying or staying in mid-range accommodation was just a dream.

Even then I've heard about Earth warming - but it seemed to be low, some 0,5 °C
Since the Iron Curtain fell the living standards risen in Czech republic. The number of cars multiplied at least five fold, everyone is able to spend the holiday wherever they want (if they have enough money or a sponsor), people fly to the conferences and other meetings ... and I hope some scientists are already working on the ways to improve our atmosphere and environment.

I happened to be at the northernmost gatering of global climate strike and it was as emotional as Greta's talk on TED. The students from UNIS and Longyerbyen School and kindergartens met in the center of the town, chanting “What do we want?” “Climate Action!” “When do we want it?” “Now!” and similar chants.

Studenti z UNISu, Longyerbyen School a mateřských škol se setkali v centru města a skandovali „Co chceme?“ „Klimatickou akci!“ „Kdy ji chceme?“ „Teď!“ A podobně.

On Svalbard you see the climatic changes happening. it is about 4 ° C warmer then 50 years ago, glaciers are melting, rising sea levels are causing floods elsewhere on the planet.
We can't be saving only what we see, we need to trust the expert scientists, that the changes are real and act.

We don't have a planet B !!!
Do we need to be reminded by our kids?

Nemáme planetu B !!!
Potřebujeme, aby nám to připomínaly naše děti?

Climate change is real / Klima se mění

Climate change through global warming is real.
There is evidence, that glaciers are retreating, ice sheets are shrinking, sea level rises, Arctic sea ice is declining, extreme weather events are on the rise.

But hopefully we still have a chance ...

Snad ale ještě máme šanci ...
